Margaret Glenn
I was addicted to opiates for tension headaches for many years. I have 4 1/2 years clean. I have an upcoming surgery on Monday. In 2015 I had knee replacement surgery and was given OxyContin. It took me 6 months to get off the Oxys. This time around I emailed my surgeon and explained I was in recovery and that the OxyContin didn’t work well for me. I asked to be prescribed Norcos for my pain. My husband keeps my pain meds in a locked safe and is the only one that has the combination to the safe. It’s not hard to communicate with your surgeon as long as you’re upfront with him or her.
