    Development Writer & Grants Manager

    Partnership to End Addiction (“Partnership”) is a national non-profit organization dedicated to ending the addiction crisis.  We understand addiction as a complex disease, demanding evidence-based, compassionate responses.     This position will support the activities of the Partnership’s Development team and report to the Chief Development Officer.  The Writer will author concept papers, grant proposals, grant progress reports, and other funder-facing materials, and research prospects for new funding opportunities and partnerships.  The candidate should have proven expertise in applying to private and government funding sources, as well as ensuring compliance with such grants.

    Responsibilities of the job include: 

    • Demonstrate and reflect the mission and values of the organization.
    • Proactively coordinate and collaborate with colleagues to fulfill mission and objectives of the job.
    • Development Writing
      • Serve as a writing and editing partner for our fundraising and business development teams.
      • Write letters of intent and develop content for submission of corporate, foundation, and government grant proposals to existing and prospective funders.
      • Write copy for Development materials, including pitches, letters and reports.
      • In coordination with Chief Development Officer and other senior leaders, ensure that the production and submission of all donor and external funder communications (grant proposals, grant reports, etc.) are well-written, persuasive to funders, and consistent with brand guidelines.
      • Author proposal drafts and assemble all relevant components of proposals by collaborating across teams to collect all necessary data and information required for each proposal.
    • Identify funding opportunities
      • Review RFP databases to identify potential business and contract opportunities.
      • Review philanthropic and foundation communications to identify potential grant opportunities.
      • Collaborate with colleagues on fundraising, business development, and other teams to strategically identify and approach prospects and opportunities.
      • Research and respond to new and emerging funding and business opportunities that align with the Partnership’s mission, goals, and existing programs.
    • Grants Management
      • Support grant management activities for secured grants, including documenting and communicating reporting requirements, tracking correspondence with funders, coordinating efforts to produce grant progress reports, and tracking funder reporting requirements and action items.
      • Ensure that all proposal submissions comply with requirements for each funder.
      • Assist with renewals of current grants.
      • Record and track all activity and progress in HubSpot database, including prospecting, moves management, pipeline of opportunities, grant management/admin/filing, etc.
      • Ensure contract compliance and complete all required grant reporting, including narrative and financial reports, working with program, finance and other staff to ensure timely submission.
      • Respond to sponsor/funder requests for additional information about pending proposals.
      • Collaborate on award acceptance and project/account set up.
    • Perform other job-related duties as assigned.

    Qualifications: 

    • 3+ years of grant/development writing experience or experience working in fundraising with a proven track record of securing funding from private and public sources.
    • Bachelor’s degree.
    • Excellent research, analytical and storytelling skills.
    • Ability to create persuasive narratives.
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including ability to proofread and draft high-quality documents.
    • Excellent organization and project management skills.
    • Knowledge of government RFP processes.
    • Impeccable attention to detail.
    • Demonstrated ability to meet deadlines under high-pressure situations.
    • Experienced proficiency working in donor databases, such as HubSpot or similar CRM, as well as Microsoft Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, Outlook) and internet research skills.
    • Excellent research/prospecting skills and experience using online grant databases.
    • Ability to work successfully both independently and as part of a team, across multiple programs and departments.
    • Demonstrated ability to work with confidential information with the utmost discretion.

    Annual Salary Range:  $75,000 – $90,000

    Note: This is a hybrid role.  The Development Writer and Grants Manager will work in the New York City office at least one day per week.
