The SPIKE Program for Broome County

The SPIKE Alert by Text program is a free and confidential program for Broome County residents that delivers customized messages directly to a subscriber’s cell phone. The alert system allows families, caregivers and community members to receive spike notifications of overdoses issued by local law enforcement and public health officials. Program participants can also receive messages from the Partnership to End Addiction customized to your family’s needs providing additional support, information and resources to address a loved one’s substance use.

Why Sign Up for the SPIKE Program?

Spike alerts can offer opportunities to:

    • Have discussions about using substances more safely and/or seeking treatment
    • Take action to protect loved ones and others, such as getting naloxone and learning how to use it
    • Talk about the risks of substance use with other family members and friends
    • Advocate for and support efforts within the community to prevent overdoses

To get started simply text SPIKE to 855-9-OD-KNOW (855-963-5669) and follow the steps to get messages on your phone when overdose spikes occur.
