Radcliffe catapulted into international fame in 2001 for his starring role as Harry Potter in the widely successful Harry Potter book-to-movie series. He revealed that his drinking use and abuse was fueled by his newfound fame.
“There were a few years there when I was just so enamored with the idea of living some sort of famous person’s lifestyle that really isn’t suited to me,” said the 21-year-old actor.
He admits he developed a penchant for whisky and partying: “I became so reliant on [alcohol] to enjoy stuff.”
As of last August, he gave up alcohol altogether realizing he had a serious problem and it was only a matter of time before paparazzi would exploit his alcohol-fueled excess.
