A new Gallup poll finds 30 percent of Americans say drug abuse has caused problems in their families—up from 22 percent in 2005, according to The Hill.

The poll found regional differences. In the West, 38 percent of people said they experienced family troubles due to drug abuse, compared with 28 percent in the East, 27 percent in the Midwest and 26 percent in the South. Among women, 33 percent said they have experienced family issues related to drug abuse, compared with 26 percent of men.

The poll also found an increase in Americans who say drinking has caused family troubles—from 30 percent a decade ago to 37 percent today.
