New Methamphetamine Funding Available to Existing Grantees

Programs that received funding under the FY2006 Prevention of Methamphetamine Abuse RFA from the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) may apply for a share of $1.186 million in new grants.

The new funding opportunity is restricted to the 12 programs that previously were funded because of the limited amount of money available, according to SAMHSA.

“These 12 entities are uniquely qualified to continue to carry out the activities of this grant program because of their past accomplishments in establishing methamphetamine prevention programs in their local communities, developing school-based programs for at-risk children, coordination with law enforcement and community coalitions to educate the public on the dangers of methamphetamine manufacturing and use, developing appropriate responses for drug-endangered children as a result of methamphetamine production and use by adults, and providing data to support the success of their efforts,” according to the grant announcement.

A dozen awards of up to $98,833 will be made. Application deadline is June 18. For more information, see the full grant announcement online.
