Chicago Charity Motorcycle Ride Benefits FAS Programs

Chicago-area FASTeam is sponsoring a 150-mile charity motorcycle ride on Aug. 15 to raise money for research and awareness about Fetal Alcohol Syndrome (FAS). The 2010 F.A.S.T Ride, which will be aided by local police who will provide traffic control, is the 6th annual charity event by FASTeam, founded by husband and wife Walt and Kathy Teichen.

Hundreds of riders are expected to take part.

The group notes that FAS affects more children annually that Muscular Distrophy, Spina Bifida, and Down Syndrome combined. “My family has been dramatically impacted by FASD and we want to help others avoid our heartache,” said Walt Teichen. “The mission of the FASTeam is to raise awareness of, and aid in the prevention of, FASD and this ride helps raise awareness, provides a gathering point for FASD families and raises funds to support education and legislation.”
