Aerosmith Singer Booked for Treatment Benefit Gig

Aerosmith singer Steven Tyler has agreed to do a solo benefit performance on Jan. 23 in Concord, N.H., to benefit addiction treatment and child-abuse prevention programs, the Concord Monitor reported Oct. 27.

Tyler, who has struggled with addiction issues but has been sober for more than a decade, will headline, “Dream On, An Intimate Evening with Steven Tyler.” He plans to sing, play some piano, and take questions from the audience, including about his own addiction and recovery.

Proceeds from the Capitol Center for the Arts event will benefit Child and Family Services of New Hampshire. Tickets are $75 to $200. “We chose the Capitol Center because it’s an intimate setting yet it’s large enough,” said Kat Strange of Child and Family Services. “We would be surprised if we didn’t sell out. The buzz on this show, and we’re just getting the word out now, is tremendous.”

The program organized the event in collaboration with a local concert promoter. “I can’t believe this is happening for our cause,” Strange added. “I still have to pinch myself.”
