    2010 NIDA Translational Avant-Garde Award for Medication Development for Diseases of Addiction

    The National Institute on Drug Abuse is encouraging researchers to pre-apply for the 2010 Translational Avant-Garde Awards.

    Pre-Applications for the 2010 NIDA Translational Avant-Garde Award for Medication Development for Diseases of Addiction are being accepted through March 22, 2010.

    The NIDA Translational Avant-Garde Award is “designed to support dedicated and talented basic and/or clinical researchers with the vision, drive and expertise necessary to translate research discoveries into medications for the treatment of diseases of addiction. NIDA's intent is to make “significant advances in the development of safe and efficacious products for the treatment of disorders stemming from tobacco, cannabis, cocaine, methamphetamine, heroin, or prescription opiate use or abuse.”

    NIDA intends to fund two to three programs using $2 million in available funding for Avant-Garde award this year. Governments, schools, nonprofits and others are eligible.
