When you child breaks an arm, you know exactly what steps to take. But when they face the challenge of substance use, finding the right path can be daunting. Parents can feel overwhelmed with misinformation and judged for their child's behavior. Our peer coaching program empowers parents to navigate this complex journey with confidence, compassion, and hope.
Addiction is a public health crisis in the U.S. In 2023, 107,543 people lost their lives to an overdose and 25% of the population had an immediate family member with an addiction. Most families do not receive evidence-based interventions to provide them with the necessary skills to help themselves and their loved one.
Our peer coaches are volunteers with lived experience. We train them on the core skills needed to support a parent caring for a loved one who is struggling with substance use disorder.
Peers learn and practice using self-guided modules, live Zoom sessions, homework assignments, and AI simulation practice to simulate scenarios commonly encountered when coaching a parent.
Coaching skills are clinically anchored.
Melanie and Nathan were designed to simulate scenarios commonly encountered by peer coaches.
Google.org has generously provided us with a grant to build AI-powered simulations to support Peer Coach Trainings and invited us to participate in a Generative AI accelerator program.
