100 Percent of Maine’s Public Housing is Smoke Free

All of Maine’s public housing units are now smoke free, a coalition of health and clean-air groups announced this week. The Breathe Easy Coalition of Maine says a new survey has found that overall, almost half of renters in the state are living in smoke-free housing.

The Republic reports the coalition’s survey also found 48 percent of landlords have banned smoking in their buildings. The survey showed 43 percent of tenants said they would be willing to pay more to live in smoke-free housing.
