NIH, MusiCares, GRAMMY Foundation Announce 2011 Teen Music Contest

Teen musicians ages 14-18 are invited to compose or create an original song and/or music video that promotes a healthy lifestyle or accurately depicts a story about drug abuse as part of the Teen Substance Abuse Awareness Through Music contest.

The contest, now in its second year, is sponsored by the National Institute on Drug Abuse (NIDA), part of the National Institutes of Health (NIH), in conjunction with MusiCares and the GRAMMY Foundation, the two nonprofit organizations of The Recording Academy. The winners will be announced during NIDA’s second annual National Drug Facts Week, which begins October 31, 2011.

The first-place winner will be invited to attend the 54th annual GRAMMY Awards Backstage Experience, a backstage tour that takes place while artists rehearse for the live GRAMMY Awards in Los Angeles. The musical entries of the first, second and third place winners will be posted on several websites including the GRAMMY365 website and the MTV Act blog.

For more information about the contest, visit the NIH website.
