ACTION Campaign II Extended to Help Agencies Prepare for Reform

NIATx will extend the ACTION Campaign II through June 2011, reports ACTION Campaign Director Kim Johnson.

“Health Reform will have such an impact on treatment agency processes that funders and participants have asked us to extend the campaign,” says Johnson, who is also a co-deputy director of NIATx.

The ACTION Campaign is free and offers access to NIATx resources and tools, along with twice-monthly webinars and a monthly e-newsletter.

NIATx, a process improvement collaborative based at the University of Wisconsin-Madison's Center for Health Enhancement Systems Studies, helps behavioral health organizations across the country improve their systems, leading to better customer service and financial performance.

The ACTION Campaign II launched in 2009 with a goal to help agencies improve services, reduce costs, and increase revenue using NIATx tools and promising practices. The focus of the extended Campaign is on preparing for health care reform. A recent webinar on making the switch to fee-for-service, featuring the Jackie Nitschke Center of Green Bay, Wisconsin, drew a record number of participants.

“The Campaign webinars allow treatment providers to hear from each other and from experts in the field. Our Campaign participants value this information sharing and many have told us that it helps to hear that others are facing the same challenges—and finding ways to overcome them,” adds Johnson.

The first 50 who sign up for the ACTION Campaign by December 1, 2010, will receive a NIATx Starter Kit: a copy of the NIATx Workbook, Smart Chart, and the new NIATx Third-party Billing Guide.
