Health Association Vet Tapped to Head ASAM

The American Society of Addiction Medicine (ASAM) will have a new chief executive starting July 1: Penny S. Mills will replace the retiring Eileen McGrath as ASAM’s executive vice president, the addiction specialty group announced June 4.

Mills has followed a long and interesting career path to ASAM, including stints in executive positions at the American College of Cardiology and Avalere Health — a business and healthcare consulting firm — the well-known behavioral-health research firm Lewin/ICF, American International Healthcare, the accounting firm Arthur Young and Co., and United Health Services. Mills received her MBA and certificate in Health Services Administration from Cornell University, and her BA is from Oberlin College.
