    Second Chance Act Mentoring Grants

Nonprofits and federally recognized Indian tribes may apply for grants to provide mentoring services under the Second Chance Act, which provides addiction treatment, employment counseling and other services to individuals leaving prison or jail.

The grants fund mentoring projects that “promote the safe and successful reintegration into the community of individuals who have been incarcerated,” according to the U.S. Justice Department. Proposals must include mentoring for adults from the time they are still incarcerated through transition to the community and post-release; training regarding victims issues also must be provided.

Application deadline is May 21. For more details, see the grant announcement online.

A second solicitation will be soon sent out regarding mentoring grants for youth under the Second Chance Act.
