June 1st I will have 16 years minus alcohol and drugs.  I drank and used actively for most of my life starting at the age of 12.  I had a dry period of 6 years when I was most active in my lack of emotional/spiritual sobriety.

I stopped all together at the ae of 45 and it took me 12 years to really be willing to get and live in my Spiritual footing.  My foundation is the spiritual tool-kit layed out in the Big Book of AA and I used many other tools to maintain, not only sobriety from drugs and alcohol, but emotional and spiritual sobriety.  For me, that comes with learning to love, honor and respect myself more everyday and that is the basis from which I speak at meetings as well as working with others.
