Hello, my name is Erica. I am a 24 year old mother of 1 daughter who is 8 years old. Obviously this is not the bad in my life. I have been clean for 3 weeks now, it has not been anywhere as hard as I thought. Here is my story:
So, 4 1/2 years ago is when everything started to take a turn for the worst. I was in a car wreck on October 2, 2008 and that’s how my back got injured. I started going to a doctor and a chiropractor. They started me out on 5/500mg Vicodin. From there it just went up. Next it was Percocet 5/500mg. Then it was straight Oxycodone: 10mg, 15mg, 20mg, and lastly 30mg. I was first taking them every 6hrs, then every 5hrs, then every 4hrs, then every 3hrs, and at the end every 2hrs. I was taking somewhere around 350mg at the end of my using. I was also taking soma 350mg, which is just as addictive. I loved to abuse my soma more than my oxycodone. I felt like the Soma messed me up way more than Oxycodone. I have Over Dosed on soma a few time. I am lucky that I am still alive and that all my organs still work properly. I got into a ton of legal trouble and now am a convicted felon. I also lost custody of my daughter. My daughter witnessed so much. I took Tramadol during this time too, off and on. During one of these on’s, I had a seizure and my daughter saw the whole thing plus she was the one who called 911. I was having seizures because of drug interactions. Well, three weeks ago today, I decided to go to a detox facility. At this detox center, they started me on suboxym and we had groups every hour and a half, these groups were forty-five minutes long. In these groups I learned so much about myself. This detox center was THE BEST thing that could of ever happened to me. I have been keeping myself really busy. This is a schedule of my week: Monday-: Women’s Bible Study, Tuesday- IOP Group and Celebrate Recovery, Wednesday-volunteer at His Hands, Thursday-IOP Group, Friday- IOP Group, Saturday- I have my daughter all day and night, and Sunday-Church and teach Children’s Church and I have my daughter all day and night, return her to her dads at 9:30am Monday. I am so thankful for the 2nd chance in life I got. I also thank god for everyday that I stay sober. The most important thing that I learned in Detox was that I am a very strong women, am not Co-dependent, and I am a great mom!! I hope that this helps you in your attempt to stay sober. Good Luck!!!!!
