Voters in Michigan, Utah and Missouri approved new marijuana measures this week, NPR reports.

Michigan voters approved a ballot measure to legalize recreational marijuana, while voters in Missouri and Utah approved medical marijuana laws. North Dakota voters rejected a measure to legalize recreational marijuana.

A total of 33 states have legalized marijuana in some form. Recreational marijuana use is legal in 10 states and Washington, D.C. Possessing, selling or using marijuana is still illegal under federal law.

Before this week, Michigan and North Dakota already had medical marijuana laws. The new Michigan measure allows recreational marijuana for people ages 21 and older, and permits them to grow up to 12 marijuana plants, according to ABC News.
