The Illinois Senate has voted 45-0 to include sheets or tubes of cigarette wraps — sometimes called “blunt wraps” — in the definition of drug paraphernalia, the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reported March 15.

Possession of tobacco wraps would be considered a misdemeanor offense under the legislation. Tobacco-leaf wrappers, commonly used for cigars, would not be included.

Lawmakers said the tobacco wraps, often sweetly flavored, are used to smoke marijuana.

The bill now goes to the state House for consideration.
