Gunmen have attacked another drug-treatment center in Cuidad Juarez, Mexico, gunning down 10 patients and staff members just weeks after a similar incident resulted in 18 deaths.
The Associated Press reported Sept. 16 that the latest killings, likely carried out by members of Mexico's violent drug cartels, took place at the Anexo de Vida treatment center. Most of the victims — which included nine men and one woman — were recovering addicts.
Cartels have accused some treatment programs of sheltering members of rival gangs. But family members of some victims of this week's attack said their loved ones had no connection to the cartels.
