The federal Administration for Children and Families will award $3.8 million in grants to nonprofits and public agencies that provide support services to families affected by addiction and HIV/AIDS.

The Abandoned Infants Assistance: Comprehensive Support Services for Families Affected by Substance Abuse and/or HIV/AIDS grants are intended to develop, implement and evaluate programs that help abandoned infants and families affected by addiction and/or HIV/AIDS.

Eight grants of up to $475,000 each are expected to be awarded.

Application deadline is May 11.
