In support of Black History Month, I reflect upon the progress we’ve made in diversity, equity and inclusion within our country as well as our organization, Partnership to End Addiction. I am particularly proud of the internal dialogues and discussions that have informed the Partnership’s efforts and direction.
Last March, I became the first Vice President of Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Belonging at the Partnership. Over the past 11 months, I’ve led efforts to strengthen our position as an anti-racist organization. As we look to the future, I am confident that our year of self-reflection and examination will help guide us as we address the ongoing challenges of this valuable and essential work.
Black History Month serves as a reminder of our commitment at the Partnership to reach out, understand and address the unique needs of Black families impacted by addiction – one of our core values as a DEIB organization. Additionally, collaboration with diverse partners in various areas of the mental health and addiction field is critical in meeting these goals.
