We were deeply saddened to learn of the passing of our former colleague and friend Dr. Mitchell Rosenthal. He was a long-time supporter of the Partnership for Drug-Free Kids, one of our legacy organizations, serving on its Board of Directors for many years.
Dr. Rosenthal dedicated his life and career to transforming the addiction and substance misuse treatment system of care. A pioneer in promoting new therapeutic models, he was also an early champion of treating those in recovery with compassion and giving hope to the hopeless.
We at the Partnership and those who knew Dr. Rosenthal are grateful for his vision, voice and advocacy for this critical issue.
Michael White, Vice Chair of the Partnership Board of Directors, remembers Dr. Rosenthal fondly, saying, “We are so grateful for the many years Mitch served on the Board of the Partnership. He was a fierce and tireless advocate for those living with substance use disorder and in trying to solve the nation’s substance misuse crisis over the past 50 years. He will be missed and we thank him for the incredible support and guidance he provided.”
Dr. Rosenthal’s full obituary is available on the New York Times.
