Urge Your Senators to Pass the Family Support Services for Addiction Act
The Family Support Services for Addiction Act has passed in the House of Representatives. We need your help to make sure it now passes in the Senate.
We know that when families are involved, informed and supported, the outcomes for those with addiction are better. The bipartisan Family Support Services for Addiction Act promises to create a much-needed grant program for community organizations and other nonprofits to provide family support services.
Why this legislation is needed
Because of the addiction crisis, more and more groups are working to provide these services, but most receive little to no government support.
This legislation fills a gaping hole in addiction resources at the federal level.
This grant program will invest in the roles of caregivers and families in addressing substance use disorder and addiction, empowering them with training, education and peer-to-peer support.
We’ve seen how the stigma associated with addiction has forced families into the shadows while those facing other diseases are granted compassion and support. This legislation can help us correct that.
