Partnership to End Addiction is a national nonprofit uniquely positioned to reach, engage and help families impacted by addiction. We seek an MSW intern (preferably first year) to train on our family services team with the Project Manager of Equity and Inclusion for 21 hours per week. This internship will have you working on grant-specific projects that serve BIPOC, Spanish-speaking and LGBTQ+ families in New York State, that seek to address and/or prevent issues of substance use by their child (of any age), especially those who have limited income and/or meet the ALICE (Asset Limited, Income Constrained, Employed) definitions for low income.  This internship is a great opportunity for first year MSW students to further develop their social work skills in a variety of settings which include research, community outreach and engagement, and marketing and communications, to gain a deeper understanding of the many different ways that social work can be applied in the professional world.

This internship must fulfill the MSW requirement for academic credit.  It is not a paid internship.  

Learning opportunities include: 

• Assist in identifying and building meaningful connections with organizations that serve BIPOC, Spanish-speaking and LGBTQ+ families, as well as families from other minority or underserved populations across New York State
• Assist in conducting community needs assessments to support acculturation of our services for specific communities/populations
• Conduct literature reviews, surveys and focus groups/listening sessions to identify substance-use related resource gaps and needs
• Conduct data collection and analysis
• Community engagement/outreach
  • Help identify organizations in the state to partner/work with
  • Attend community events
• Help design and deliver webinars/presentations
• Manage and create social media/website content
• If time permits, train on the helpline

Preferred Qualifications: 

• MSW student, first year preferred
• Bachelor’s degree in psychology, public health, social work, human services, political science, sociology or other related field
• Experience working with and serving diverse populations
• Demonstrated excellent organizational, communication and report writing skills
• Compassion and empathy for those impacted by substance use and addiction
• Bilingual in Spanish, preferred
• Previous knowledge of substance use disorders and evidence-based treatments, preferred

Note: This is a hybrid internship.  At least one day of the internship each week will take place in the New York City office (likely Thursdays).
