Our Action Plan in the Face of the Opioid Epidemic
The Partnership have devised a detailed, four-point action plan to help end the opioid crisis and empower families to take action.
The National Association of Broadcasters (NAB) announced at a Capitol Hill press conference yesterday that local radio and TV broadcasters will undertake a national effort to address heroin use and prescription drug abuse impacting communities across the country.
Our president and CEO, Marcia Lee Taylor, said at the conference, “We at the Partnership have always had great support from broadcasters, running our messages to drive awareness and action around teen substance misuse and abuse. Today, we are thrilled to join with NAB in helping more families address a loved one’s addiction to opioids, like prescription painkillers and heroin.”
NAB radio and TV stations will run the Partnership’s public service announcements in English and Spanish as a part of the campaign announced yesterday. NAB is also developing a printed and online toolkit for broadcast stations across the country on facts and statistics related to the epidemic, and ideas for prevention, programming and community outreach, among other activities.
