Democrats Ask Drug Policy Office to Do More to Combat Opioid Epidemic
Twenty Democratic senators are asking the Office of National Drug Control Policy to do more to combat the opioid epidemic, according to the Associated Press.
National public or private nonprofit groups may apply for a share of $10 million in cooperative agreements to help communities fight smoking and obesity and promote physical activity and good nutrition.
The funding from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services is part of the Communities Putting Prevention to Work initiative and comes from the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009.
Application deadline is April 19. For full details, see the announcement of the cooperative agreements online.
