FDA Probes Potential Link Between Seizures and E-Cigarettes


The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) announced this week it has received 127 reports of seizures or other neurological symptoms that may be related to e-cigarettes, according to CNN.

“The FDA is continuing its scientific investigation to determine if there’s a direct relationship between the use of e-cigarettes and a risk of seizure or other neurological symptoms,” Acting FDA Commissioner Dr. Ned Sharpless said in a statement. In addition to seizures, some people who have used e-cigarettes have reported fainting or tremors.

The agency asked that any unexpected health or product issues experienced with e-cigarettes or any tobacco product be reported to the FDA through the Safety Reporting Portal.
