Democrats Ask Drug Policy Office to Do More to Combat Opioid Epidemic
Twenty Democratic senators are asking the Office of National Drug Control Policy to do more to combat the opioid epidemic, according to the Associated Press.
Nominations are now being accepted for the Father Joseph C. Martin Award for Professional Excellence, which honors professionals in the addiction treatment field who embody Father Martin’s philosophy and life’s work.
The annual award recognizes “professionals who exemplify Father Martin’s legacy of devotion to 12-step recovery and helping the chemically addicted, and their families, heal.” Father Martin worked for 50 years helping people with addictions before his death in March 2009.
The award will be presented at the National Conference on Addictive Disorders (NCAD) sponsored by the National Association of Addiction Treatment Providers, the Association for Addiction Professionals, and the Vendome Group, held in Washington, D.C., Sept. 8-10, 2010.
Nominations are due June 1, 2010. For full details, see the Father Martin’s Ashley website.
