Hey my name is Billy, and I am from East Texas. I started my drug career shortly after dropping out of high school at the age of 17. I started using alcohol at first with my friends and that only lasted for a short time. I first tried crystal meth at one of my friend's house when I was 19. I knew that very first time that I used crystal meth that this was the drug for me, and kinda knew at that moment to that this drug was gonna be a problem for me.
I just used on the weekends for the time being and when I started working with my buddies mom's boyfriend at the time re'poing that's when my meth career took a turn for the worse. I worked with him and this company for about a year or so and we pretty much used everyday while we where working so we could work longer. I ended up smoking it for about 2 years until I finally let someone talk to me into using a needle which I said I would never do. After using the needle for the first time my addiction just went severely out of control.
At the age of 22/23 my parent got me help and I went to an outpatient program that lasted a month. After going to this outpatient program I remained sober for about 11 months after that. I started hanging out with the wrong crowd again and ended up relapsing, and little did I know that my addiction would be even worse this time.
I ended up disappearing for 7 days no one could get in touch with me through this period, and I had a spiritual awaking, I guess that's the word for it, it's like god was talking to me and telling me that I don't have to live like this. After that moment I had got in touch with my previous sponsor, and him and his sponsor got me set up in a in-patient facility this time a wonderful place called Cenikor out of Waco, TX and this place worked for me.
I have been sober since December 4, 2013 and I really feel amazing and to this day I can't thank the people who stood by me the most, or god for showing me that there are better ways to live.
